Are you sure that the nero file is a linux executable? What does the install instructions for the nero software tell you?

Any file with an "exe" extension is meant for windows only and will only run (maybe) if you use a program such as wine in Linux. I googled nero for Linux and got some hits for shareware including the one below:

Download Nero for Linux, Nero for Linux 3.0 32bit Download

Why don't you use Linux software available with Red Hat?

If you are using gnome on you can easily burn CDs by right clicking and choosing send to CD/DVD creator. By Red Hat Linux 5 you mean Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5? It ought to be able to do it as I described. Alternatively, open the CD/DVD creator from the gnome menu and drag your file icons to the window. Click burn and give it a couple of minutes. This software has many more features than nero lite and is easier that nero was a couple of years ago.

What's special about Nero? Does it do something that K3B or Brasero won't do?

I suspect that the op has only just arrived from the windows world where downloading an exe from the manufacturers site is a way of life.

Hi rajkumar_linux, now that you've joined the Linux world, you need never again download a "lite" program, nor "shareware", "freeware", "vaporware," "beerware",etc. Welcome to the full meal deal.

Using RHEL 5 and/or derivatives (CentOS, Scientific Linux, et al) you can't beat K3b, the KDE CD/DVD burning/ripping tool. It doesn't author DVDs, but it will burn them and rip them just fine. It is a front-end for other tools such as mkisofs, dvdbackup, cdrecord, cdrwtool, etc. I've been using it for going on 3 years now, and haven't missed Windows tools in the slightest.

You can't run a Windows program in Linux, just like you can't buy U.S. postage stamps with Canadian money. Rather than complicate the issue with an emulator (Wine), try using K3B, a Linux "equivalent" to Nero DVD.
