    Linux E212 read-only error

    I am new to Linux, and i am trying to password protect a folder on a linux web srever. i have managed to create the username and password but i get an error when i try to edit httpd.conf file. I need to change a line in there to make the log in work. Please can some one help me

    Does new user has root privileges?
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
