I am trying to install rhel5.5 86_64 on intel (R) core(TM) i3 CPU M330@2.13GHz ram 3 Gb hard disk 320Gb but after boot its shows kernal panic - not syncing ...

    kernal panic - not syncing : Fatal Exception

    I am trying to install rhel5.5 86_64 on intel (R) core(TM) i3 CPU M330@2.13GHz ram 3 Gb hard disk 320Gb
    but after boot its shows
    kernal panic - not syncing : Fatal exception.
    so plzz tell me why dis happened and how can be corrected.

    Does it display any other message before kernal panic?
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    i retried this tym its not showing any error .. but after disk checking system( it was ok)restarts to install but its not showing graphics... its showing but light of screen is not there i mean brightness. and screen shows red hat screen in background but dimly . its brand new laptop of compaq.

    I had something like this happening with Fedora and an HP dv6 1030us about a year ago. I don't recall the exact issue, but it was some weird USB thing. I think I had to set legacy mode or something like that in the BIOS. After install, I was able to put it back and everything has been ok since. May not have anything to do with your problem.

    It was Legacy USB Support in a few machines. If you toggle this setting in BIOS, USB don't work at GRUB Menu in few machines. But its worth to check.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    There is not any Legacy USB Support type option in my BIOS it is chip-set type mother board in my lapy window-7 64 bit already installed and same problem arise when i try to install my rhel-5.5 in my system .
    I already have updated BIOS version F .17 A, previous was F.09A
    so guide me what i have to to ?

    my laptop have new i3 processor on rhel site i read it not supported new i 3 i5 i7 series processor so i install fedora 13 it work fine
    other thing oracle el 5.5 not work cent os not work but fedora 13 is fine
