Installing make without yum on acer aspire one netbook
Hi all. after messing with fstab + mtab, my aspire one netbook completely failed , so i rebooted using a live USB . My desktop and default settings were restored. When i tried to install firefox 3 ( default browser is firefox 2 ), yum hangs and refuses to do anything. I tried deleting and reinstalling yum, and it was mostly successful until i tried the "make" command which according to bash does not exist.
Any ideas on how to install make without using yum?
Thanks in advance

sounds like you're using a really old version of fedora, any reason you can't update to latest version?
also, you should be able to download and install firefox manually from the website in worst case scenario without using yum
also, you shouldn't mess with highly important system components such as yum, you have a very high chance at breaking the system unless you really know what you're doing

no, you can download a new iso cd, burn it, and run installer
if you don't have CD then you can install with USB flash drive
linpus lite is not really good

Welcome to the forums!

I agree with coopstah13 and would recommend considering a different distribution to install on your machine. Linpus is rather crippled and incomplete, and will likely continue to give you grief.oz

Don't know how stuck you are on using a rpm distro. Below Statement helped me decide what to put on my Acer Aspire One. Not a lot said or shown. But I figured there was no negative statements. I usually go for AntiX on my Netbooks. But Ubuntu Netbook did not disappoint me on the Acer. I don't like the Netbook Desktop. So I just select session Gnome at login and it sticks.
