[SOLVED] RHEL 5 not loading on boot...
Dear redhat users,
I just started testing a redhat enterprise linux 5 installation. This installation took place in a Latitude D630 labtop which currently has Ubuntu Desktop in (sda1) and Ubuntu Server in (sda3). My goal was to install Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 into (sda4). Both of the Ubuntu installation boot fine and work, but when I try booting the RHEL it shows a panic in the loading phase as follow
VFS: Cannot open root device "sda4" or unknown-block(0,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
I am wondering what this means, maybe some of you would have a better clue than I do. Thank you in advance.

What are you using to boot? The Ubuntu Desktop or Server, Red Hat Grub?? Where did you install Grub of Red Hat? Do you have a separate boot partition for your Red Hat installation? If you can boot into Ubuntu, post your partition information here using the command: sudo fdisk -l (lower case letter L in command)
It seems from the message you have an incorrect entry in the Grub menu file for whichever OS you are using to boot.

Hi Yancek,
Thank youf or the reply, I was able to find the boot problem. I have to do some tweaking to the actual grub.cfg file from within ubuntu server. Thank you again.
