    Depends in what condition that machine is.
    - Does it have a valid subscription to rhn?
    - Does it have 3rd_party RPMs installed?
    - Does it have self-compiled programs?
    - Does the backup work?
    - Does the restore work?
    - How long can the machine be taken offline, in case something goes wrong?
    - Does any of the release notes affect your applications and/or data?

    After you cleared those questions for yourself,
    it might just be as easy as
    Code:
    yum update

    But.. With RedHat 5.5 being out for quite a while and RedHat 6 on the horizon.
    Why stick to that ancient version?
