Changes dont reflect after reboot - please help!!

    hey folks,

I have installed fedora linux distribution on oracle virtual machine on windows.
The problem am facing is whenever I make changes( as in adding users, configuring web servers, making any kind of changes in files etc.).. and after a while I reboot my machine, I dont see any changes I made.. the changes do not just show up.

what could be the reason behind it and how do I fix it ?

    Thanks

Are you sure you installed it? That it's running of a virtual harddisk?

Because from what you describe it looks as though you may be running a liveCD version in your virtual machine. That you're running off an .iso, which is a read-only filesystem. Then changes you make are only in RAM and wont survive reboot.

Now the question is, how can you tell if this is the case?

What is set as primary boot in the ... ehm ... what are you running? VirtualBox or VMware? (Oracle has both nowadays)

Anyway, I think this is more of a VirtualBox or Oracle setting than a Fedora problem.
Can't tell an OS by it's GUI

yes I am 100% sure I installled it on Oracle Virtual Box..
correct I downloaded an .iso file and then installed fedore through Oracle Virtual box(machine).

Sorry but I dont think its Virtual machine problem because I have ubuntu and open solaris both running on virtual box and changes I make in them reflect after I reboot which is not the case in fedora.

Let me know for any further information.

    Thanks for quick reply anyway.
    Appreciate your help on this.
