There should be instructions on installing it on the Realtek web site. However, for RHEL/CentOS 5 the Realtek 8169 driver is usually installed by default in the kernel. Have you tried to use the network already? What is the output of these two commands: lspci and ifconfig?
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

You need to be root to run them, and they are in the /sbin directory. As root, your path should include /sbin. If not, then try the commands "/sbin/lspci" and "/sbin/ifconfig".

Welcome to the forums!
Those LAN drivers come with the Linux kernel by default, but there was a bug with the kernel version that was included with RHEL 5 that caused the drivers not to work properly. This was fixed in later kernels. Have you tried upgrading your kernel?
Keep in mind that if you want to install the drivers manually, you'll need root permissions to do so and you might have to enter the full path to get commands to work.
Edit: Oops, looks like Rubberman is faster on the ENTER key than I am today.oz
