    Firewall issue

    Hi all,

I've a problem with firewall configuration which blocks the client s/w to interact with the server. It says the user server is offline

When I disable the firewall and use the same combination of username and password to let the client software to interact, server allows it to interact with by accepting the connection.

Any suggestion on how to configure the firewall?

    Andrew

    Political:
    Decide, if
    a) the client and their users are trustworthy (aka secure enough)
    b) that connection is needed and wanted
    c) the fw exception is temporary or permanent

    Technical:
    1) Find out:
    - which udp/tcp ports are used by that client.
    - which networks the clients can possibly come from
    2) Add appropiate iptables rules to the (obviously) existing firewall
    3) Document the change and include the reasons why
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
