    hp 2133 BCM4312 problems.

    Hi there,

have been struggling with this for many days now.

    The setup is as follows:

    minimal F14 on a hp2133 with bcm4312.

    kernel:
    Code:
    2.6.35.9-64.fc14.i686.PAE
    the card:
    Code:
    02:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11a/b/g (rev 02)
i have tried both extracting firmware with b43-fwcutter and kmod-wl-PAE

the result is the same, when I try to use the wlan-card the system freezes and it's random when it freezes.

    when the card is upped:
    ifup wlan0:
    Code:
Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.
it comes up and the light is blue(orange when it's down)

    I do wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iwlan0 ...
it may or may not freeze here

I do dhclient wlan0: it sure freezes here

sometimes it freezes when I do iwlist wlan0 scan.
I just dont understand what am I doing wrong.

the same setup just works on an Intel 4965AGN card.(Lenovo X61 lappy)

    any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Gr0b

Some drivers have problems with PAE-enabled kernels. Have you tried with a vanilla i686 kernel? Also, I have a broadcom chipset in my Dell D630 that works well with Ubuntu 10.10 in x86_64 (64-bit) mode, after I installed the proprietary firmware.

    Hi Rubberman,

tried non PAE kernel, same problem. maybe this is one of the chipsets that is not supported at all. win7 works just fine, no hw failure...
