Question Defining Quota for a user at folder level

    Dear All,

We are using Red Hat Enterprise AS 3.0. There are 100+ users connected to a single server. As the Inbox size of Mail Client (Thunderbird) for each user grows there are space constraint on the server. So I want to define a quota on mail folder for each user (say around 500 MB to 1 GB). How can I do this.

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Prasad V Joshi

You should read this RedHat Disk Quota.
Pay attention to the user quota settings.

Thanks for the reply. I have gone through the document and have followed the step given. But this talks about setting the quota at the user / group level. How can I set a quota at a folder level (e.g. lets say I want to restrict the user to use only 500 MB for his mail, 1 GB for his other data, and so on)

    Thanks,

    Prasad

You can't. The quota system counts all files and directories from the user where ever they are. You can create a server only for the mail. Perhaps dovecot and ldap ...
