    Post Unable to mount external USB with ntfs partition in cent os

    I have 500GB external HDD. I have to mount it my CenOS -4.8 Machine.(kernel-2.6.9.89EL 32-bit) .
    External HDD partitions are ntfs file system partition.
    I have tried to mount ntfs partition in linux . But it's not done.

    Can anyone help me to mount partition with ntfs parttion in linux.

    Welcome!
    Is your kernel compiled with NTFS support? Have you install ntfsprogs and/or ntfs-3g?

    Thanks for reply.

    I have checked "modprobe -l | grep ntfs" .... but there is no output.
    I think my kernel not supports to ntfs.
    I tried to install ntfs-3g also but .. it was asking for dependencies... and it failed.
    How I install ntfs-3g or/and ntfsprogs on my cent-os m/c??

    Try this for installing ntfs-3g post #3 , dont worry about the rest it says about Xen
