Hello and welcome to the forums!
Check out UNetbootin as a possible installation option that might work for you:
UNetbootin - Homepage and Downloads
You don't need a cd/dvd drive to use it.oz

I think you are confused as to what an iso is . An iso is supposed to be copied to a blank cd or dvd
oop's missed the broken cdLast edited by sml156; 01-25-2011 at 11:37 PM.

As stated, use Unetbootin to install a download .iso file to an USB memory stick. Adjust your BIOS to boot from USB and install.
Unetbootin can deal with several distributions, just download and it will extract whatever you want to USB stick.

installing Linux
Hi John
You can always burn the iso image on a USB drive partition. Make sure that you dedicate that partition for the ISO image only as it should be a bootable partition.
Once done just boot from USB drive on your PC and installation should begin.
Good luck.

I used a program called Universal-USB-Installer-1.8.0.8.
You run this on windows, choose your distribution (iso image), and tell it to make a USB flash drive bootable with it.
It will even download the iso if you don't have it.

Some BIOS don't allow boot from USB - but external dvd burners are pretty cheap - and then you are covered for other things too.

finally - hw to brag about - but next year it will look pitifully quaint:
