    USB Flash Drive auto detect

In Fedora Core 3, isn't the OS supposed to have Autodetect capability for USB Flash drives? I use the KDE Desktop, but any reviews of it I have ever read, the author is using GNOME. Does the Autodetect have to be switched on in KDE? Can someone help me out here?
    Thanks,
