Just installed Scientific Linux 6 KDE. Does anyone know how to get it to connect to wired ethernet network?
...i know there is nothing wrong with hardware; i get a working network/internet connection with live systems such as knoppix, aptosid etc.

Go to System->Preferences->Network Connections and set up your network there. You can setup for DHCP or static addressing. Click on the eth0 connection, select Edit, and then enable the "Connect automatically" check box.

Yeah. I have both kde4 and gnome installed on my SL6 system. KDE4 is a real disappointment to me - I used kde3 on my older CentOS 5.5 installation and really liked it, but kde4 is in many respects a major step backward, IMO. So, install gnome, and try it from there. Once both are installed, you can login to either.

Also, post the output of the command lspci - you need to execute these as root, or sudo.

Ok. Let me see if the Marvel ethernet controller is supported in SL/RHEL 6. It may be later tonight before I get back to you. Cooking dinner now and wife and I are heading to friends for a house concert in a bit. I have a custom kernel configuration so I can check easily enough.
