Help setting up my network on OEL (RHEL) 5

    Hi,

My LAN (Asus P5QPL-AM ATHEROS L1E LAN) is not being detected by Oracle Enterprise Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) release 5. I have been experimenting with NDISWRAPPER and WICD trying to get the Windows driver working in Linux but I'm having no luck at all - pissing around with that crap just isn't my cup of tea. I'm starting to think that it's an impossible task. If anyone knows how to do it can you please give me an explicit list of instructions to make it work? If it isn't possible can someone give me the make and model of a network card that this version of Linux can recognise?

    Thanks
    Adam

    Hello and Welcome.
Is this a Wireless card or Ethernet? Can you post the output of
    Code:
    lspci -knn
    Code:
    ifconfig -a
Atheros chipsets are supported by the kernel so the driver should be there if it's an Atheros device.

In the gigabit category, most any Intel board or chipset based one, National Semiconductor, Realtek 8169, Broadcom, and QLogic. In the 100 megabit category, most stuff. Please post the output of the commands lspci and ifconfig here so we can see what your system has.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
