    NTLDR missing

    Hello everyone!

I know this problem has been discussed several times already, but I can't seem to find the right thread to fix this for me....

I have no more free CDs or DVDs lying around so I just put that installer on an external harddrive (via USB). I then unpacked the iso there because I didn't know whether the bios needs the iso or the unpacked iso.

Now I restart my computer and boot directly from the external drive and I get the error

NTLDR missing , ctr+alt+del to restart

Now I partitioned that drive to NTFS but that didn't help either.
I now took a new drive and put the installer on that as well, but now I actually get nothing but a black screen when I try to boot from it.

Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

    Thank you for reading!

If I understand, you have MS Windows installed on internal hdd and want to install linux from the ISO ? If so take a look Tapas Linux Blog: Install Linux from ISO image on hard disk without using a DVD ROM or CD Drive .

Due to you formated the hdd with XP, when you boot that hdd it will try to load XP's boot files that are not there.

After you read the above link and need more help, post back. There are other ways but.
