[SOLVED] Su command gives relocation error.

    Hello!

I am running Fedora kernel 2.6.35.11-83-fc14.x86-64 with Gnome 2.32.0 on a Acer Aspire Timeline X with Intel i5 processor.

After running 'yum update', su gives an error in the Terminal Window:

su: relocation error: su: symbol pam_chauthtok, version LIBPAM_1.0 not defined in file libpam.so.0 with link time reference

After the same update, Evolution stopped working. It does start, the menu (File-Edit-Search, etc.) does appear, but in the main window only "null" appears.

I try to solve as much problems myself (great way of learning), but I could not find a good place to start with this one. Can you help?

    Cheers,

    Rob.

That's a new one for me. Sorry - clueless here. I'll get back to you if I find anything out. In any case (just a SWAG), it would seem that the update had a problem. Have you posted this to the Fedora community forums?

    Reinstalled

    Hi Rubberman,

    Thank you for your reply.

The update log showed a "malformed software source" error. I thought the wisest thing would be to re-install Fedora. Everything is working fine now.
