A kernel update and yum not finding a repo have nothing to do with one another. Post the yum errors here. Any errors if you disable elrepo?

I just setup elrepo in my Scientific install. Apparently elrepo is disabled by default.

There is no elrepo-kernel.repo file. In the /etc/yum.repos.d/elrepo.repo file, you need to set the enabled=1 in the elrepo-kernel block. Here is the elrepo.repo file in case you need it. Remove the .txt extension if you don't have this already.

Well, I'm running SL6 as well, but don't have this problem. What about disabling the elrepo-kernel block? Mine is not enabled.
