dual monitor setup in fedora 12

I need some help getting my dual monitors working in Fedora 12. I've tried some things from other posts and a few things from various websites and wikis (Gentoo), but nothing I've done has worked. To be honest, I can barely remember what I've tried and what I haven't anymore, because I feel like I've gone in circles.

Can anyone help me make headway into this? If there is a post or page on this, please point me to it.

    Here is what I'm running:
    Distro: Fedora 12 running GNOME
Card: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Device 06e0 (rev a1)
    Driver: nouveau
    Monitor 1: 21.5" Dell E2210H
    Monitor 2: 17" Dell Ultrasharp

The card has one DVI out and I'm using a DVI-splitter to connect the two monitors. This configuration works on my Windows 7 boot. Also, the second monitor is detected, but shows no display.

    1. Remove Nouveau driver.
    2. Install proprietary nVidia driver

Nouveau does support dual monitors, but you probably haven't gone into the Display preferences to configure it. I suggest using the nVidia driver because nouveau still has a lot of problems, even though the very latest release (last several days) is supposed to perform will from the raw pixel perspective. However, I had serious issues with stability using nouveau, as have many others.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
