how to play wmv!?

Hi guys,

Dont know how to get this done, i'm using Fedora 14 for Intel 32bit, so i've ready installed the /usr/lib/codecs, and nothing... Plus vlc, mplayer, mplayer-gui (which is not running), Totem (default), Gnome Mplayer and those players cant play the file.wmv. So the status is:

Totem = "The playback of this movie requires a Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) demuxer plugin which is not installed. "

mplayer (console) = " error loading libglut.so.3"

Vlc = sound plays with a "No suitable decoder module: VLC does not support the audio or video format "MSS2". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this." message.

Gnome Mplayer = runs but dont play anything.

so, dont know just some posible solutions, converting wmv to another format?, running windows compatible media player with wine?...

plz!!, help again, any tutorial or explanation will be enjoy it.

Well, I use VLC for WMV files all the time, so I don't know what your problem is, though I have seen the errors you get with mplayer and totem, or at least some errors with some formats. In any case, try installing the freeglut package to see if that fixes the problem, last least with mplayer.

Thanks a lot it works great, the gnome mplayer works others dont, but its ok at least one plays the video file format, now i can see and learn linux from the proper os. I'm just getting started on this and try to move on with linux, to get better and so on...
