Any way to disable wpa_supplicant in RHEL 6?

I'm working on a RHEL 6 base image for virtualization and I'm trying to pare down the things that we don't need. Considering none of the virtual servers will have wireless networking, I figured it'd be good to kill that wpa_supplicant process.

Unfortunately, even with the wpa_supplicant service off, NetworkManager seems to start it right back up. There isn't any wireless devices configured, so I don't know why it does this.

I can't even kill the process, it starts back up immediately. Is there something in either the Network Manager or wpa_supplicant config files that would disable it permanently?

    Thanks.

Why not uninstall it altogether? yum remove wpa_supplicant

That would remove NetworkManager. We're converting from Solaris to RH and I'm not entirely sure how important NetworkManager is. I know you can use something else, so I may have to consider that.

So it does. On my RHEL 6 system it also will remove anaconda and system-config-quickstart as well as all the NetworkManager cruft. From the looks of that, it may not be possible to remove it altogether.
