[SOLVED] How do I use a livecd on CentOS 5.5 in VMWare?
I have centos 5.5 on vmware, and I'm trying to boot up from the live cd so that I can fix some issues that I'm having. I have vmware pointing at my cd drive, I mount the cdrom and when I ls, it lists the contents of the cd. But when I go to reboot centos, it doesn't boot from the cd and just boots normally.
How can I fix this?

You probably need to tell VMWare to boot from the CD instead of the virtual hard drive. Not sure how you do that, but I use VirtualBox and it behaves the same way. I can enable the CD for a virtual machine, and have it boot from that so I do rescue operations. One thing I can do with VirtualBox is to keep snapshots of the virtual hard drive, which I do regularly, Then, if something breaks, it is often easier to just reset the snapshot than try to fix the problem on the fly. That's why I keep my system "drive", and working data in separate virtual discs, just like I do on my physical workstation.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

So, at the splash screen, you're supposed to hit F2, and that'll get you to the place to change boot order. Turns out the answer was fairly simple.
I hope this will help someone in the future.
