Installing RHEL v6.0, getting error "UNABLE TO READ GROUP ...."

    Hi Guys,

I'm what you'd call a complete n00b to RedHat. I literally know nothing about it, so please bear with me as I ask for help.

I'm looking to install the 30day evaluation version. To tinker and experiement with it to learn it better, (after all the best way to learn the OS is to just toy with it).

I like that it was a smooth GUI interface for the install, but I run into a problem during the actual installation.

    1) Install using DVD (tested media, it checked out good)
    2) Chose basic storage.
    3) RHEL goes to install a bunch of /dev stuff and then, bam, it dies with the error:

"UNABLE TO READ GROUP INFORMATION FROM REPOSITORIES. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE GENERATION OF YOUR INSTALL TREE"

I know I need to provide you a bunch of information concerning log files, version, etc.. etc.. but I don't know how to even do just that. I'm a complete n00b and want to learn! Please help!

Either post this question to the Red Hat user forums, or try installing Scientific Linux 6 - a free clone of RHEL (no 30day cruft). Get it here: Scientific Linux - Welcome to Scientific Linux (SL)
