    a simple query


    Hi all ,

    Want to allow FTP and deny telnet for a specific user on user basis . E.g . username jackie should be able to FTP to the server but should not telnet to it . I cannot disable telnet service for all but just want to disable it for jackie . thanx .

    depending on what ftpd you use. you can configure ftp servers to allow, deny useres, domains by ip...

    if you don't want useres to telnet to the server change their shells to /bin/false or some shell not listed in /etc/shells

    btw, why telnet? use ssh
