Some information on your computer hardware would be useful. How old, RAM, HD type?
What does "moved the installation to a new HD" mean? Were you able to copy data to a new drive? Did you reinstall on a new drive? How does everything work great if you can't boot?

tried grub-install on live cd, said i dont have some bion driver.
Get that exact error message, it could be helpful.
There are several methods a person can use to reinstall Grub. Can you tell us which commands you used? If you can boot the CD, do that and open a terminal and run the command as root: fdisk -l (lower case Letter L) to post here (parttion information).

If you can mount your root partition on the drive, do that and check the /boot/grub/grub.conf file and post it also.
