System changed to read-only, cannot bootup

    Hi there,

All of a sudden my production system changed to read only. Ran fsck and it ran for about 5-10min before it crapped out. Now when rebooting, getting an ext3-fs error, attached is an image. The system is on an ESX environment, any suggestions?

    Thank you

It is possible that your initrd (initial ramdisk) image is hosed, which a kernel reinstall might alleviate. Boot up with a CentOS LiveCD and boot into "rescue" mode and reinstall the kernel. You'll have to mount your root/boot partitions first, but hopefully the rescue installer will do that for you (typically mounts to /mnt/sysimage).
