strange text come out
I try to install red hat linux and I connect the PC with serial port .
I use hyper terminal as terminal.
when the machine boot from DVD/CD , there is no text mode(simply graphic) screen come out..
just a strange/rubblish text come out ??
What is the problem ??
Pleae advice .
I also find it is hang when I install in text mode ..below is the hang screen

So, you are using a serial port as the system console? You need to boot into runlevel 3, not 5. All that gibberish on your screen is probably the graphics splash screen data re-interpreted by hyperterm.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

That isn't what I was asking. Please outline in detail your hardware (make+model of computer, processor, memory, disc capacity, video card, monitor type and make+model), and then your installation process (installation options), and then how you are running it after installation (assuming you get that far).
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

That is special hareware module .like blaze server ...
I connect the serial console port to the notebook and use hypber terminal to
(com port) to connect it . I install the red hat from DVD/CD in text mode ..
that is the case I meet ....

rehat 5.2! the hardware are special module ..not genernal one but similar to PC , like HP blaze server ..

did you pass "serial" and "text" to the installer at boot time?

just a thought, why not use the "vnc" option, if you can't connect a monitor directly to your hardware? I assume you can network the server to the PC you're using hyperterm on. You just need a VNC client on the PC. When the RHEL install process starts up the VNC server to finish the install, it tells you how to connect (use 192.168.1.1:1, for example). you can specify your server's ip info on the command line, too.
