    cannot recognize network card

    Hello guys,
i've recently bought a notebook, acer 5750G 2636G75Mnkk. First i installed windows 7 pro with all the needed drivers for network hardware, nvidia etc.As a result i can connect to the internet. But when i installed fedora 12, i couldn't connect from the environment of fedora. The notification for network connections does't exist.
Furthermore i went to system, administration, network and in hardware tab there isn't anything although in windows is recognized the hardware for network!
What is more, i wrote in terminal the following command:lspci and appeared: 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation Device 16b5 (rev10) as it should normally be.But why i cannot connect to the internet when i use linux?
I have done several times the procedure of installing windows and fedora at different pc and internet connection was automatically recognized. Please help. thnx in advance

Sorry about that. I saw that you had a notebook and assumed you wanted wireless.
So you're just after the physical connection, then?
    What is the output of
    Code:
    ifconfig
Are you using static IP's on your router? Or DHCP?

    Nothing to be sorry about!

Open up a terminal window, and type in the following:
    Code:
    ifconfig -a
    You'll get some results.
If you can find a way to post those results back here, we'll see a little more of what's going on.
If you need, you can just save the results as a text file, put it on a thumb drive and post it from a different computer.

    *EDIT*
While you're at it, also use this command, and post that output as well:
    Code:
    lspci -v

    I just realized something.
This is pretty much a new model laptop... produced in the last year, right?
Fedora 12 was released in '09, so the drivers included are older than your hardware.
I'm thinking that the best fix for this is to install a more recent version of Fedora.
the most recent release, 15, is likely to detect everything automatically.
