Years ago, I started looking for a way to turn a standard raid server into a fibre target. I came across some code on how to make one but I'm no programmer so had to move on.

My current methods are to purchase FC RAID arrays, format the whole thing as one drive, then use filer heads to control that storage. Thing is, those FC RAID chassis are very expensive.

The plan at this point is to use my FC arrays for the main OS requirements but I want to use SATA arrays for the second tier storage to save money.

I would use Linux servers fitted with 16/24 (or more) drives and am hoping to find a FC target device that would allow me to export the arrays to my filer heads.

Anyone know how this could be accomplished?

Thanks very much.
