I was installed Red Hat v5 in my VMware. While I am trying to install a package it was showing your OS was not registered to RHN. How can I overcome that problem?. Moreover where the downloaded software's will be stored by default (in which dir).

a) you can buy a subscription from redhat and register your system.
b) you can try one of the redhat clones, like CentOS, or better Scientific Linux. You dont have to pay for these. You must always face the curtain with a bow.

Hello ,
You can install the Packages by configuring a yum repository with rpm files from the CD /DVD .
Create a .repo file in /etc/yum.repos.d/
