The reason I asked is that the samba server is missing in "Service Configration" table listing.
Also, chkconfig --list does not show "smb".
I need to run samba so that I can access linux directories from windows.

rpm -qa | grep samba gives me:

    Code:
    root@localhost ~]# rpm -qa | grep samba
    samba-winbind-clients-3.5.6-86.el6.i686
    samba-client-3.5.6-86.el6.i686
    samba-common-3.5.6-86.el6.i686
    samba4-libs-4.0.0-23.alpha11.el6.i686
Now how do I install Samba?
yum install samba (or Samba) gives

    Code:
    Loaded plugins: product-id, refresh-packagekit, subscription-manager
    Updating Red Hat repositories.
    Setting up Install Process
    No package Samba available.
    Error: Nothing to do

Pity nobody replied. It was faster to reinstall the OS. This time I was careful to make sure that Samba gets installed. Now, install I did, but I can't access files from windows. I will create another thread for this.
