Samba setup for RHEL6
I have set up an RHEL6.1 server on VirtualBox. Host OS is Windows 7.
In Samba KDE Control menu of RHEL6.1, there are 5 panels: Base Settings, Shares, Printers, Users, Advanced.
In the Users menu, I added an user from "Unix Users"(on the right) list to Samba Users (on the left) and clicked "OK" ("Apply" button is grayed out).
But when I go back, the user I had just added is gone!
I added a directory in "Share" anyway.
Security level is "Share" and workgroup is the same that of my window's workgroup.
I got an IP (192.168.X.X) using "host only" adapter of the VirtualBox. In the URL bar, I put that IP and the folder I designated as share above does show up, but when I click that folder, an error dialog appears.
Says "no permission. talk to your sysadmin"
Now, both smb and nmb services are running.
There is a file called smbusers in /etc/samba.
I added an entry by hand and saved it, but there came a dialog saying "/etc/samba/smbusers was modified by another program"
So there is a big brother keeping tab!?
Why am I not being allowed to add user(s) freely?
Please help.
Thank you.

Thanks to Google and in particular, thanks to the following blog:
jehurst.wordpress.com/2011/01/17/rhel-6-for-the-clueless-samba-server/
I was able to access the linux share from my windows.
Thanks everyone and cheers,

From frying pan to the fire
Just a few hours ago, I was so happy!
Happy to get Samba working.
After that happiness, comes a frustrating feeling-- being nice here because I need to get it done.
I cannot access my non-admin account.
Says "Cannot enter home directory. using /."
And an error dialog:
kstartupconfig4 doesn't exist or fails. error Code is 3.
Some more Googling, I guess.

It seems to be the SELinux, stupid!
I disabled the SELinux in file /etc/sysconfig/selinux.
Now I can log in to my non-root account.
But now Samba is not working.. when I enter the IP (192.168..) in the URL bar, I don't see the Samba share that I am so eager to see, but an error message dialog.
