New clone hard-disk GRUB cannot start ..!

    Hi folks,

As per title, I was using the unix method ie FDISK, dump & restore , dd MBR but end up fail to start up because GRUB cannot start.

    Was cloning 80GByte RedHat 9.0 to a 40GByte hard0disk.

    Much appreciate any comments

    Best regards

I would expect to have problems doing that. Is that a typo?

    Hi and Welcome.
I agree with yancek. Cloning an 80 Gig drive to a 40 Gig is going to cause problems... and likely won't work at all.
You would want to clone to a drive that is the same size.

And Red Hat 9? Is there a reason why you would be using an 8 year old OS?
