What version of Google Earth are you running? How did you install it?
Have you checked here for the Google Earth System Requirements?
Have you launched it from a terminal window, so that you may see any errors/messages sent to STDERR/STDOUT?
I have version 188.8.131.527 running fine on my Fedora 15 box (w/Intel 945GM graphics).
EDIT: I forgot - I assume your Linux install is configured to get out onto the internet, yes?
