yes. it said it couldn't open the files. I tried to post exactly what it said but it wouldn't let me do the website links.

    yum localinstall --nogpgcheck websitelink
    Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit
    Setting up Local Package Process
    cannot open file: websitelink. skipping
    cannot open file: websitelink. skipping
    nothing to do.

Have you already setup your software repos?
    Code:
    rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm
    rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm
    And then:
    Code:
    yum install gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-bad-nonfree

Looks like you have a fedora 13 repo in there...
    What is the output of
    Code:
    ls /etc/yum.repos.d/
We'll need to remove the offending file.

This is probably fixable, but it's a little outside of what I'm used to.
part of the problem is that Fedora 12 hit it's End Of Life back in December. So some of the things you're trying to do simply won't work easily from the command line.
You can go directly to the software lists with your browser:
    Index of /free/fedora/releases/10/Everything
    Index of /free/fedora/updates/10
    Index of /nonfree/fedora/releases/10/Everything
    Index of /nonfree/fedora/updates/10

It should be possible to download the RPM packages from there, and install with
    Code:
    rpm -ivh <package_name>

I've thought of trying to upgrade Fedora to whatever's latest but this is giving me so much trouble I don't want to bother right now. Which one of those software or rpm thingies do I need to download? There's a lot of them.
