Problems with ATI Radeon in Fedora
hi !
For a time now, that I have having some troubles with Fedora.
To be precise, troubles relative to the video card.
I've installed Fedora 15, 14 and 12 to see if this glitch would disapear, without any luck.
I've been for days and days trying to resolve this, and since I'm new to any type of linux OS, I can't dd anything .
Can someone help-me please ?
The glitch makes some horizontal lines to show up, mouse becomes a blank square, making text impossible to read.
The netbook is a Packard Bell DOT_M/A.PT/702
Many thanks.

Hello and Welcome!
First, we'll need a little more info about the graphics card. Open up a terminal window, and type the following two commands:
andCode:lspci -vnn
Post the output back here.Code:lsmod

anyone know if its there any solution ?
Many Thanks

Do you have any specific programs running when this happens?
After the 'glitch' occurs, open a terminal again, and do:
Code:dmesg | grep VGA

Better yet, when you reply, post the output of this instead:
Code:tail -20 /var/log/dmesg

Do the graphics work fine when you add 'nomodeset' (without the quotes) to your boot options in the GRUB menu. This starts your graphics in failsafe mode. If you need any help doing this, just reply to me.
Hope this helps

I'm at a bit of a loss here.

Does this also happen if you run from Fedoras LiveCD?
Or is it present in other distros?Jay
