    Hello

Fedora recommends using the DVD to upgrade:

    Upgrading - FedoraProject

Have you tried doing it that way?

    Hi prajeesh,
I've had problems twice doing what your doing and I might be able to help. To do a software update, Fedora prefers if you use their "Preupgrade" tool as described here:
How to use PreUpgrade - FedoraProject
In my case, I had failures twice and I was not able to access the cause of the failures so I did a more elaborate "Yum" style upgrade described here:
Upgrading Fedora using yum - FedoraProject

    Here is what I know:
    1. If you want to upgrade from Fedora 13 to 15, you should install Fedora 14 in the interim. Look at the second link and perform any special steps. I tried going directly from 13 to 15 and ran into failure.
    2. The step to upgrade from Fedora 14 to 15 seems to be buggy as far as I can tell. I had one complete failure requiring a DVD/CD install but managed to save one installation. Specifically, /etc/init.d and init functionality is replaced with a new server called systemd. Some servers (like crond) didn't start on their own in the installation I was able to save and I wasn't clear how to debug systemd to fix the other installation. I'm not sure if this helps, but I wish I would have had this link before
upgrading: How to debug Systemd problems - FedoraProject

The DVD or CD might make things easier on you ... I don't know how well it works to be honest.

If you don't mind and you really want to upgrade versus reinstall, I'd recommend stopping at Fedora 14 (which is still supported) until they iron out any problems with the Fedora 14 to Fedora 15 step.

I second Ozar's suggestion. You can do an upgrade from the DVD, it's not necessary to do a reinstall. The "preupgrade" process can sometimes go flawlessly, but other times can leave you with a borked system that will give you no option but to reinstall unless you're _very_ experienced with rpm cleanup.

Be aware that the Fedora 15 desktop is based on Gnome 3, which is a very different animal than the Gnome you're used to in F13. You'll give up a lot of functionality for a little bit of glitz. I'm a dyed in the wool Red Hat support engineer, but I'm very disappointed in the Fedora project for forcing this new version on their users before it's ready for prime time. Just my opinion, there are a lot of arguments for and against.
