    Since the file browser is browsing your files, how would that be offline at any time? I'm assuming tht you are talking about Nautilus, Dolphin, etc...

    Comvault has an archiving feature. When they archive old files, they set the offline attribute for that file and leave a "stub" or pointer to the file that has been moved to second-tier storage. When most linux-based file browsers list the files in a folder, they typically display an icon for that file. There is a option to "View as List". To do that, they have to open the file and that triggers mass demigrations or recalls of the files. Nautilus has a My question is how can the file system of the file browser be configured to not open files when displaying them in that browser (Nautilus, Dolphin, etc)
