    Hello and Welcome.
You need to boot from Parted Magic to delete the NTFS partition and also to create your new partition. It's fairly easy using Parted Magic.

Partition Magic or Parted Magic should work. I've yet to come across a Linux installation CD that did not come with a partition manager so you could do it during the installation also. If you need more detailed information, we would need to know what your intentions are. Are you planning to overwrite everything on the disk for Linux? Are you going to have other operating system(s) also? If you are gong to have other OS you need to make sure you format the correct partition and you would need to be familiar with Linux naming conventions.
