    Post Migration from RHEL 4 to RHEL 6

    Hi All,

    We are planning to upgrade/Migrate from Red Hat Enterprise linux 4 to Red Hat Enterprise linux 6.
    Please anybody is having steps for this.
    what are do and don'ts for this

    That is a wide topic.
    It depends on what services you are running and the detailed configuration of them.

    In general, I would advise to install a new machine for every existing one, thus creating a second setup.
    1) Install all the required daemons
    2) migrate their config
    3) document and automate every step from 1) and 2). Imho, this is not optional, but a requirement.
    4) sync/migrate the data
    5) test. This is also a requirement.
    6) switch over production to the new machines
    You must always face the curtain with a bow.
