I had been running earlier versions of fedora and other distros. using Firestarter for firewall.
Now with Fedora15 I get a unknown error message. Any help?

From what I can tell, they aren't supporting FC15 as yet. FC15 is the bleeding-edge version of Fedora, using current kernels that are significantly different internally from previous versions. Have you tried FC13 or FC14? From the Firestarter download page, the current status of FC packages show that FC11 was the latest officially supported release, although that should work with 12 or 13. FC14 is questionable, and I'm not surprised that it doesn't work with FC15.

I was using older ver before with no problem..... decided to upgrade while back.
Now I am having this issue till now(see below)

successful test run. I setup as second gateway inside my LAN. ISP side to LAN and other side as gateway for my test workstation. anyway, looks like it is working. Just a matter of checking which Ethernet was ISP side and Gateway(LAN) side. welcome to any easy configurations or GUI programs. once Ethernet setup was corrected, it seemed to eliminate unknown error message.

Will convert to main router setup later, and confirm completed success.

Being as Firestarter is not up to date with new version... probably could not get valid error.
once I found settings needed changing, Firestarter worked.... till next time it gets error it cannot translate properly with newer Fedora (F15)

Glad you sorted it out. As a current and active user of Firestarter, you might want to contact them about updating the package for these newer distributions.
