    Correct Edition of RedHat Linux

    Hi,

Can you please recommend the correct edition of Linux for my requirement?

    1. I want to make my laptop dual bootable with Windows and redhat linux.

    2. I want my Linux to be both GUI and Command Line driven, to be able to conect to internet through GUI and do Unix Korn Shell programming while on Command line.

    3. I want to install Oracle and do PL/SQL programming through both TOAD type of front-end and from command line as well.

All my usage is at individual learning purpose level.

Please guide me with an appropriate edition of Redhat linux

    thanks

    Hello and Welcome!

I know next to nothing about PL/SQL and all that is associated with it, but for the other 2... CentOS.
It's a clone of RHEL, minus the brand name. Fully compatible with RHEL software and its repos.

    Afterthought...
Depending on your goals, Scientific Linux might work, as well.
Another RHEL clone. Geared towards, and written by, the science community.

I personally use Scientific Linux 6.1 on my laptop, and run Windows in a VirtualBox VM under that. The only difficulty was getting the WiFi to work properly, but a visit to Welcome - Linux Wireless and some test installations of drivers/firmware after careful reading of the provided documentation finally resulted in a reliable WiFi connection after an hour or two of effort. Scientific Linux is, as jayd512 indicated, an RHEL clone that is primarily maintained by the computing divisions of Fermi National Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois USA and CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.

I use my laptop when I am away from home for software development, database programming (Oracle, Postgres, etc), and embedded system programming, as well as playing videos and music, email, web browsing, document processing, and all the other usual cruft. Oh, and I use it as a Skype and IM terminal to keep in touch with family, friends, and clients.
