    modem configuration in linux


    Hello folks!
    i have a problem .i configured modem in red hat linux. when i restart pc after it , system was hang up on "Bringing up interface ppp0".
    problem is still persisting and i am unable to start linux.
    i am using window XP on separate HD.the internal PCI (intel) modem is also installed in xp. but in different slot.
    Thanks in advance for solving my problem.

    when first booting you get welcome to redhat screen then it asks if you wish to do a Interactive boot by pressing I, that allows to select the services you what loaded on bootup say yes to all except ppp0 if you get into the os check the setup of the modem.
    Also, is this a softmodem ?, if using kde and kppp, query the modem and see what ati codes are returned if any.
    also are they any error messages
