Fedora 16 doesn't run or install

    SPECS:
    Code:
    Dell XPS 17 L702X
    Intel i7-2670QM 2.20GHz
    8GB RAM Dual Channel
Intel HD Graphics Family, Nvidia Geforce GT 555M
    Windows 7 Pro 64bit
    BluRay reader, DVD/CD Burner
2x 500GB harddrive, SATA configured as ahci
    Bios version A16
Here is a pic of what happens when I run the live CD:
    fedora error1.jpg

If I run the install DVD, after the test media option is goes to a black screen with a cursor at the top left of the screen that doesn't flash...it is frozen and nothing responses.

Can any1 explain why fedora 16 (64bit) just doesn't want to be on my laptop?

It looks like udev is locking up on you.

Udev is responsible for populating the /dev directory with all the device files necessary for the system to run.

If udev skips town on you without completing its job, the system will be left in an unstable state.

It is probably a Fedora issue, however test the theory by downloading Ubuntu and running the live dvd.

Now you can try this with Fedora, whenever the boot menu comes up press 'esc' and then type basic0 and press enter.

This will instruct Fedora to load basic video drivers.

I am having the same problem. I'm trying to install Fedora 16 on Dell XPS17 L702X. I get the white cursor on the top left of the black screen as well.. and it freezes. I tried installing it under Troubleshoothing > Install using basic graphics and it installed but couldn't boot. After tampering it for a couple of hours, trying ubuntu and retrying fedora ... it managed to boot successfully only to have the desktop go to fallback mode. After a couple of days messing around with it trying to get my stuff installed properly it crashed on me and it could no longer boot. As we speak I'm currently installing it again under troubleshoot mode. Does anyone have a way of installing it properly?
