    Hi,

Please can someone guide me on how I can share file between my Centos and windows xp using FTP. I have installed and configured FTP on the centos but don't know how to go about the file sharing.

    Thanks in advance.

For starters you should be posting these kinds of questions in the proper forum, i.e., REDHAT/FEDORA/CENTOS is where this question should have been posted, not the GENTOO forum. Hopefully the MODS can move this post.

Did you install the ftp client or server on the Centos box?

    Thanks Robert,

Yea, I installed FTP server on the centos. How do I locate the right forum, because I just registered today and not very familiar with the site.

    Regards

Rather than use insecure FTP, you're probably better off just running SSHD on the linux machine and using WinSCP on the Windows machine. This will let you connect through SSH and share files between the two.

    In centos:
    Code:
    yum install openssh-server -y
have a look at this for a guide on how to use winscp winscp.net/eng/docs/getting_started

    P.s.
You might need to open a tcp port 22 in the centos box

One the front page the blue tabs list the forum areas. To find the right forum for Centos you would look under Your Distro there you should find Red Hat / Fedora Linux which Centos is a part of. If all else fails you could always ask in the Coffee Lounge for diretion.
