    Kernel update

    Hey everybody,

I started using linux just a few weeks ago, so I am a real noob

I have a question about updating the kernel. I realized that I had to reconfigure for e.g. my firefox settings after I updated to newer kernel version. Is that "normal"? Did i have to do that with all applications on Linux after updating the kernel?

    Hello and welcome!

The only thing I remember ever having to update after a new kernel install was my nvidia drivers. I've never had to fool with Firefox configs or update Firefox after installing a new kernel.

The reason was: I "overmounted" my home path (/home/myusername/) by using the application truecrypt. Thats it
