    password promt responding slow ?


    Hi,

    when i did ssh from server 1 to server 2, after entering the Login id, I am getting the password prompt after 1 minute .

    Why this slow response from server 2 ?

    what could be the reason ?

    server 1# ssh aparna@server2

    after 1 minute i am getting the password prompt as

    password #

    There can be many causes of this, including system load on server 2. In any case, you don't provide enough information to make a reasonable assessment of the situation. Once you login to server 2, how does the system respond? What does the output of the command 'free' show? That will indicate memory and swap space usage. If the system is swapping memory to disc, then either you have a runaway process, or not enough RAM for the load it is running.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
