    Please also see post #100.

    That's progress. Could you:

    - Run vsftpd with run_as_launching_user=true and provide the output of:
    Code:
    ps aux | grep -i vsftpd
    - Run vsftpd with run_as_launching_user=false and provide the output of:
    Code:
    ps aux | grep -i vsftpd
    We need to make sure this is safe. Good job though! One more step away from full reinstall .

    ok, i did the chmod you suggested, stopped and then started the vsftpd service. I connected with the user development and then anonymous. Below is what I got out of Filezilla.

    Could you post the output of post #101? The run_as_launching_user is disabled by default, like your suggestion. I just want to know what is going on, since this looks like a permission issue.

    EDIT: Btw, after you post this. You could enable the functions you want one by one and see which one is causing the hang. I'm personally betting on the seccomp sandbox. So if you change:

    Code:
    seccomp_sandbox=no
    to

    Code:
    seccomp_sandbox=yes
    You will get hangs again. And if that is the case, disable it by commenting it out *and* make a comment for later reference behind it(!).

    with run_as_launching_user=true and seccomp_sandbox=yes ----- the server would not start with "job failed"

    had a typo, apparently i had problems spelling the word yes. I accidentally spelled yes as yse then restarted the server and got the job failed. Still got the same response with user=false and sandbox=yes

    Ok, now let's just keep:

    Code:
    run_as_launching_user=false
    Since it makes vsftpd angry. This made everything work correctly right? E.g. no hangs, straight to correct home directory. No more PWD -> '/'. Right?

    Ok when I do that get the same responses as in post #94

    If I set it to true, I get the response as in post #99 and I have to manually change to the directories. and it does not hang.

    If I add in to the conf file:
    local_root=/var/www/html
    anon_root=/var/www/html

    It will log me in and put me directly into the /var/www/html directory. But I cannot see anything until I manually put it into the retention folder.

    In I change it to go directly to the retention folder as in:
    local_root=/var/www/html/retention
    anon_root=/var/www/html/retention

    It logs in an takes me to that directory fine with no delay.

    I guess now we gotta work on getting it to work with a user name and password instead of anonymous.

    Posts 107 to 109 have "run_as_launching_user=true". I forgot to mention that.
