Small error while installing Red Hat/CentOS

I am using a Dell Inspiron N4050, and I have had this problem during my few attempts to install CentOS and Red Hat.

Normally, when the computer boots with the Linux installation CD/DVD, it will prompt for the screen where you can choose your actions, like

    Install Red Hat...
    Install and repair..

I do not quite remember the sequence, but you can choose what you want to do.

But for me, this is not the case. This screen just appears for a split second then disappears, then the installation of the OS continues.

Why is this? Is there something I have to configure to make it work normally?

I can be found either 40 miles west of Chicago, in Chicago, or in a galaxy far, far away.
I don't know why the timer is not working properly. My suggestion is to boot a Live CD/DVD which will boot into a running system with an option to install to the HD. I generally don't use the direct installation CD/DVD images for similar (but different) reasons. Either that, or you time your keystroke better...
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
